Apple says its iTunes service will be replaced by three different apps for Music, TV and Podcasts after 18 years as it unveiled changes to software and devices.

Apple has confirmed it is to replace the iTunes service in its current form, as it splits the software across three apps.

iTunes was introduced as a media player in 2001 before a built-in music store was added, and it was used as part of the set-up of early generation iPods and iPhones.Speaking on stage at the tech giant's annual Worldwide Developer Conference, senior vice president of software engineering Craig Federighi said:"The future of iTunes is not one app, but three."

It will also include a range of security and privacy features, including a new"sign in with Apple" tool which will allow users to sign in to websites and services using their Apple ID, rather than using a social media account and sharing personal information.
