American Airlines is cancelling 115 flights a day through mid-August because of ongoing problems with the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The US grounded Boeing's 737 MAX plane inBoeing has been developing a software upgrade for an anti-stall system
American has 24 MAX jets and had previously planned to cancel MAX flights through early June. Airline officials say by extending cancellations through the summer they can plan more reliably for the peak travel season.
The 737 was designed over 50 years ago to use Turbojet engines mounted underneath the wing, instead of more efficient Turbofan engines that needed to be mounted in front of the wing The Plane is no longer inherently stable in some conditions and needs Software to keep it flying
Boeing has worked hard to keep the share price of Boeing rising by not building a proper alternative to the 737. Airbus have been delivering planes equivalent to a proper replacement for over 30 years
