The new tech coming to England's top-flight football this year is expected to cut offside VAR call decision times by half a minute

The semi-automated tech generally requires 12 cameras inside a stadium which track both the ball and 29 data points on each player. Referees will also still need to make calls themselves on subjective elements, such as whether a player in an offside position is interfering with play, or whether a player is onside where a defensive player has touched the ball and the contact has been deemed deliberate.
