A San Diego-based defense startup has quietly raised $12 million from the likes of Lockheed Martin and scored Pentagon contracts to develop a shipping container size drone factory. It’s been pitching the idea in Ukraine.With Ukraine’s war with Russia raging on, defense and 3D printing engineer Ian Muceus paid a visit to Kyiv in February.

Firestorm recently opened a 15,000 square foot factory in San Diego which will serve the dual duty of 3D printing drones and building xCells that will do the same on the battlefield. Magy expects the factory to produce more than 500 unmanned machines every month. Firestorm figures wars of the future will go through 10,000 drones per month.
