Motorists will see 500 “intelligent” traffic lights, new “smart” motorways and digital parking signs installed under an ambitious $695 million “congestion busting” package from the NSW government.
Ms Berejiklian said the government would spend $400 million to install intelligent traffic lights at 500 intersections that can read the flow of traffic and reduce the number of stops by 15 per cent in Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong. She also promised $200 million to turn the M1 between Sydney and Gosford into a smart motorway that can automatically adjust speeds, and $95 million to trial digital parking and clearway signs.
Ms Berejiklian on Friday also kept pressure on Labor to explain it's "luxury car" tax, calling on Opposition Leader Michael Daley to explain the finer details of the commitment after he recently stumbled over the policy details.
EstherHjHan It’s election time, better throw some money at the poor people.
EstherHjHan Peanuts, waste of money. What will be the congestion in an 8 million Sydney planned by lucyturnbull from the Greater Sydney Commission? An intelligent GladysB would at least stop these plans so that congestion does not get worse. Anyway the next oil crisis will fix the problem
EstherHjHan Money is debt . The govt take the best slice of it by time its filtered down the inflationnis setting in. Eventually inflation counterfitting operation will destroy everything
EstherHjHan Yes, but who put them under pressure? nswpol
EstherHjHan Politicians need to learn that they need to wear hardhats with some scratches and scrapes on them and fluoro vests with a few dirt marks to be credible.
