The innovation day will be aiming to expose young people to technological innovations improving the quality of learning.

South Africa’s department of communications is partnering with mobile phone company Nokia to host an expo that will expose young people to technological innovations aimed at improving the quality of learning, conservation, transportation, and fashion.

The innovation day will be targeted at beneficiaries of the TechnoGirl programme and students at the Leadership in Motion Academy. Communications Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams is the brand ambassador for TechnoGirl, a job-shadowing programme for girls with a bias towards science, technology, engineering, and mathematics careers.

The initiative is a flagship programme of the department of women in partnership with the department of basic education and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund. Nokia has innovated Connected Schools, which extends quality education to South Africans using virtual and augmented reality to create a more immersive experience compared to traditional teaching methods.
