“I’m certain I did say, ‘Well that’s not acceptable,’ ” said Tajer, a leader in the association representing American Airlines pilots. On Wednesday, federal regulators ordered the grounding of the 737 Max 8 and a similar plane, the 737 Max 9, after another crash involving the plane, on this occasion in Ethiopia on Sunday. Many other countries had already acted.

DeFazio cited a concern that has particularly alarmed pilots, the introduction of software that was flagged in the bulletin sent out after the Lion Air crash. But two pilots who attended the meeting with Boeing in November after the Lion Air crash said pilots had suggested that the company take these actions at that time.

The company said it had been working closely with the FAA on the software update and had also been soliciting feedback from airlines that operate the plane. “How can a Captain not know what switch is meant during a preflight setup?” asked another. “Poor training and even poorer documentation; that is how.”

Reputational crisis In its order grounding the planes Wednesday, the FAA said it had received information from the Ethiopian Airlines wreckage “concerning the aircraft’s configuration just after takeoff that, taken together with newly refined data from satellite-based tracking of the aircraft’s flight path, indicates some similarities” between what happened with that flight and the Lion Air flight in Indonesia.

Can’t say that I blame them. Boeing lives over money.

What the hell. Pay a million bucks to the President's election fund and get the heat off your back. America has become a true blue 3rd world banana republic. It only took 2 years to get there. A country that was hailed as the torch bearer of aviation safety ended up limping last.

stg916 Let's not forget Boeing, et al, are supreme military contractors, they and their assorted 'contractors'. The gov't will do everything they can to protect them. Boeing is part of the electronic weapons program currently being used on innocent Americans. Boeing needs comeuppance.

Boeing is about $$profits before life!

Boeing should be fined heavily for not giving the information- critical!- to the pilots. Unbelievable

'..throughout the week, Boeing has said that safety is its top priority. But it also announced that it would take several steps to make the planes “even safer,” including updating the flight-control software as well as pilot displays, operating manuals and crew training.' Hhmmm..

That MCAS is some scary stuff ...

The company moved it's HQ out of Seattle because about 30 years or so ago the rank and file decided that the boss had made a bad decision that caused a loss of profits and as a result jobs. They ALL drove to the guys house and parked on his lawn and let him know how they felt.

And, of course, we have a rudderless FAA due to djt’s varying whims. The safety of American air travelers is increasingly at risk. The rest of the world no longer trusts our FAA.

DanEggenWPost Then a software patch was delayed for 5 weeks due to Trump's hissy fit shutdown.

346 lives vanished bcse of some crooks in power! the familles of the victims should SUE :Boeing ,Trump ,FAA and all the gangs involved in making décisions ...I read Nikki Healey is part of Boeing Board 🤔 🙄👎👠👠👠👠737MAX EP302

Your paper is going to die. Becaue all conservatives will be suing U 4 any of your FAKE Reporting on people to destroy them. We will be doing the same to all Communist liberal dems newpapers! BYE, BYE!

That’s rich. NOW you tell us.

For Boeing BoeingAirplanes another day another dollar, no matter how many lives lost LionAir EthiopianAirlines in less than 6 months! There NEEDS to be full accountability! 🤬SHAME ON YOU!

Too many people in positions of power, fame, wealth from all corners of society are out for themselves at the expense of the people. A shining beacon of criminal, unethical, immoral greed and perversion. Sorry, but this is what our advanced technology is showing us daily.

Too much tech. Too much wreck. No software could ever match 'Sully'.
