But plenty films are critically acclaimed and don't win big at the Oscars.Accepting the Best Picture Oscar, Bong didn't comment on the historic nature of the film's win. Instead he paid tribute to Martin Scorsese in his Best Director speech, saying that, when he was young, he “carved deep into my heart” a quote by Scorsese: “The most personal is the most creative.” He also thanked Quentin Tarantino and he gave his Best Screenplay speech in Korean.
LouisStaples I really dislike the tone of the article. You seem to suggest there’s something wrong in awarding an Oscar to a white actor who performed better on set than one of another race or ethnicity. That’s mild racism.
I rather that this movie won the Oscar rather than that Cynthia erivo s***, where do Hollywood get off having a black British actress portrayed in American slave descendant I'm f****** real
South Korea should have received this kind of recognition for it's brilliant films over a decade ago. Especially Park Chan Wook's films.
Parasite deserved It 100% but I hope films will continue to be recognised for its artistic merits rather than for the politically correct reasons. That'd be humilliating for them.
It wont change anything except make things worse. The oscar was just a diversity virtue signaling party for rich white liberals. They put diversity over merit.
