A study by Freedom on the Net focused on 65 countries, covering 87 percent of the world's internet users and tracked improvements and declines in internet freedom.

China was the worst abuser of internet freedoms for the fourth year in a row, the new statistics show. Iceland came top in the rankings, becoming the world's best protector of freedoms according to the study.

Of course, we are not surveilled in the West. Nowhere on the Internet is free.

Genuinely interested, what are the reasons for saying Russia's internet isn't free? Living here for 5+ years, other than Linkedin I can't think of a single site I can't access. Facebook, YouTube, BBC, all accessible. With all the online piracy here I'd say it was the opposite!

So.

After China bailed out the USA in 2008 financial debacle of it...Internet has laid a siege of China which the USA must step forward and respond carefully to avoid being ignored to be bailed out this time.

Most part of the world's population doesn't have internet access in our era :)
