Minerals Council of Australia Chair Helen Coonan says people’s concerns about nuclear being big, expensive and coastal-based “deserve a relook”.
Speaking to Sky News, Ms Coonan said while the MCA is neutral on technologies, it encourages all technology including uranium and nuclear energy, as well as coal, gas and renewables with storage. “If nuclear is an acceptable way to go forward, economies of scale kick in so in the end it probably will be cheaper, cleaner and very effective in ways we haven’t been for a very long time.” Image: Getty
MineralsCouncil helencoonan Im certain nuclear is just a distraction while the Coalition spend another 3 years without an energy policy to address infrastructure shortfalls and their greedy coal electricity company mates robbing rorting and price gouging Australians with skyrocketing electricity prices
MineralsCouncil helencoonan Neutral? Don't let the members hear that, they'll form a new council. Any business case from any country that shows nuclear as cost effective please - let the (independent) numbers do the arguing
MineralsCouncil helencoonan Rupert pushing hard the Nuclear angle
MineralsCouncil helencoonan Numbers don't stack up for nuclear. Coal doesn't stack up if you take into account real costs.
