Malacañang has welcomed the leap the Philippines made in the 2019 Global Innovation Index , commending the agencies behind the country’s improved economy.Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo made the statement after it was reported that the Philippines jumped to 54th place among 129 countries in the GII 2019 with a score of 36.18.
In a statement, Panelo commended the different agencies which made the leap possible and hoped that the recognition will motivate them even more. “May this good news further motivate them in creating an environment that nurtures innovation and creates business opportunities as we become one of the fastest growing economies in the globe,” he added.
According to Panelo, the Department of Trade and Industry observed that the Philippines’ scores significantly increased in five of the GII’s eight pillars namely Institutions, Infrastructure, Business sophistication, Knowledge and technology, and creative outputs.
