Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer’s climate plan would eliminate the carbon tax and force large-scale polluters to reinvest in clean energy technology, instead of paying penalties to the government.

CTV News has learned that the long-awaited plan’s objective is to keep money in the private sector in an effort to keep businesses competitive and foster innovation.

Large-scale polluters would also be able to pilot or adopt emissions-reducing technology as part of the plan. The Liberals have criticized Scheer and the Tories for failing to detail their plans to combat climate change. He could not commit that his plan would meet the targets, instead saying his plan would have "meaningful reductions."

Any industry exceeding targets will be forced to reduce through green measures, and he’s addressing the ONLY way a country producing 1.5% of the global GHG really can, by selling clean LNG to China making 32% of GHG with COAL. Natural gas will cut China to 16% a huge GHG impact!!

Polluters in Canada should pay.

So it's a carbon tax....AndrewScheer , I've heard this before, but you didnt like it.

A carbon tax does absolutely nothing to reduce carbon and has zero effect on the climate. So ridiculous! The earth changes people! It has been for 4.5 billion years!

He’s scheerly not ready

No he will force them out of Canada like ford is forcing other companies to leave Ontario, who needs a conservative when ya got these 2 clowns killing everything that was planned and not dreamt up to bea nightmare of a government. PC's, no thank you

The environmental issue doesn't start or end with Canada. The entire problem is and entirely with third world and developing countries. If they don't make drastic changes then there is no point.

Green as in some money making enterprise. Consistent with a non policy position....

Stop. Abdicating. Government. Responsibility. To. Corporations.

Big Busine$$ helping Big Busine$$. Trickle down environomic$?

Bit, it wouldn't force them to cut their carbon emissions - and what do you think is more important right now. Can we hear from the Greens, please?

And the dumbest among us think WE would not end up paying for this through pricing of goods and/or services LOL! Guess people prefer hidden costs as opposed to paying up front and getting a tax rebate🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🤣🙄🤣😂🤣😂🤣

not much of a sheer fan, but this makes more sense then Trudeaus plan of charging the citizen a carbon tax, while letting big polluters get away with paying next to nothing. its a win-win companies get to reinvest in themselves while helping become more green.

I'm in favor of anything that does not involve imposing a tax on Canadians. This is a better option than carbon tax.
