Share to twitterShoppers at Target were not particularly thankful after its check-out system went down this weekend. It could have been worse: You could have been trying to check out at a Target in Argentina or Uruguay.
Target, you may remember, was one of the first big retailers to experience a breach of its data systems, back in December 2013, exposing information on some 40 million of its customers. Target ended up paying out over $18 million in penalties because of the breach. This weekend’s problem is being attributed to “an internal technology issue” and was not security related. Sunday’s spot problems, Target said, were due to an issue with NCR, the company’s payment processor.
