A top Treasury official has warned of a possible "war of technology" between the United States and China that could divide the world and harm growth in countries such as Australia.
The prospect that the US government would cut off the supply of components to Huawei appears part of a looming technology war.Technology rivalry is central to the trade war between Washington and Beijing, as seen in the series ofAddressing a forum at the Australian National University this week, Ms Quinn said whatever happened in the current trade war, competition between the US and China would continue, technology was central to the dispute and this was "very concerning".
Ms Quinn said issues such as intellectual property theft and unfair state subsidies had to be addressed. But Australia would be harmed unless it was done through a system of international rules that still allowed the free flow of technology around the global economy."Technology transfer and fusion of technology has been at the foundation of our increasing living standards but also bringing millions of people out of poverty across the world," she said.
Isn’t this the point of the war? China have no technology of their own, they steal/reverse engineer everything....china want to keep doing this to show the world how ‘great’ they are and the US want to stop it?
