In the 60 years since the first episode of “The Twilight Zone” aired, other television series have lasted longer, attracted more viewers and left a deeper footprint in popular culture. When we want to suggest that a certain politician is logical and collected, say, we call him Mr.
Spock, and when we want to poke fun at self-dramatizing cool, we still turn to the Fonz. “The Twilight Zone” may not have the same reach, but it continues to play a special role in the popular imagination—when neighbors and friends are torn apart by politics, when technology goes too far too fast. That’s why the show, whose original run ended...
Never knew the show began airing on my birthday.
We are in it! I’ve been waiting for Rod to step in for quite some time and it’s not happening. If this is real, we’re in a lot of trouble! Scary!
Story Telling. Today’s TV is often gimmicky. It takes quality to stay relevant for 60 years.
The original series with Rod Serling is best and will never be outdone.
Because Rod Serling was as close to a demigod as we get. Gene Roddenberry was too.
They should shorten the episodes, they're too long. Also, I'm no prude, but the story can be told without gratuitous F bombs. Not quite at a Serling level yet.
Just saw the show in London. The staging was simply brilliant.
We're compelled by Serling's understanding of human nature. The way he explores and exploits our emotions while making social commentaries is pure genius!
Helps us to try and understand today’s political world.
Excellent article. If Rod Serling was living, he would have plenty of fodder to write great episodes considering the way th US has been run for the last 20 years. Fear, lies, squabbling etc. are overflowing from all sides.
All that occult nwo involvement. symbolism lol
Great article
It's akin to Madness that is the source of all mysteries.
It was a one of a kind show. Always a little different. Even now it does stand the test of time.
TheTwilightZone = yet another remake. Hollyweird incapable of anything original & creative. Insult to the genius of RodSerling
If Rod Serling was a songwriter, he would have been Bob Dylan.
It was a quality show with morality tales made entertaining for the viewers.
