Apple will get an observer role on OpenAI's board. This strategic partnership aims to bolster Apple's AI capabilities

board. This strategic partnership aims to bolster Apple’s AI capabilities and position in the tech landscape. The role, filled by Phil Schiller, the head of Apple’s App Store and former marketing chief, will officially start later this year.

This move places Apple on par with Microsoft, OpenAI’s largest supporter and main AI technology provider. It allows Apple to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence. Phil Schiller, an Apple Fellow, oversees the App Store and manages product launch events. He stepped down as head of marketing in 2020 but remains a key figure at Apple. Additionally, he serves as a director at the medical technology company Illumina.At the WWDC 2024 event in June, Apple announced the integration of ChatGPT into iPhones, iPads, and Macs as part of its AI features suite. The upcoming iOS 18 will see enhanced AI capabilities on Apple devices.
