According to Rand Water, proactive infrastructure maintenance is important to preserve the quality and integrity of their infrastructure and extend the life span of their assets. Rand Water has four main booster stations: Eikenhof, Palmiet, Mapleton, and Zwartkopjes Systems. This winter maintenance project is scheduled to focus on the four systems and will affect different municipalities on different days and times. The Zwartkopjes and Daleside Pump Stations will only experience a single instance of limited service. It is important to reiterate that the maintenance project will be implemented on different dates in different municipalities.

The implementation of the project will kick-start on 22 June 2024 and will commence in Mogale City Local Municipality. Normal pumping will not be affected at this stage as only one meter will be impacted. On 24 June, pumping at the Eikenhof Pumping Station will be reduced to 50% for eight hours and later increased to 67% for the next 64 hours. For the remainder of the project, Eikenhof will operate at 83% capacity for a period of over two weeks.
