KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is confident it can secure an estimated RM13bil worth of potential exports and investments from its participation at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan, says Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

The Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister said that the expo offers a unique opportunity for Malaysia to showcase its commitment to sustainable development, industrial reforms, and inclusive economic growth, while fostering a prosperous society for all. "Today, we are nine months and 24 days away from the grand opening of this world expo. So far, 161 countries and nine international organisations have confirmed their participation.

"An estimated 28.2 million visitors are expected to attend the expo. Leveraging this sizable audience, I am optimistic we can generate around RM13bil worth of potential exports and investments from Malaysia’s participation," he said in his welcoming remarks at a ceremony to mark the launch of Malaysia's participation in the World Expo 2025 Osaka on Thursday .

"We believe that our pavilion’s theme complements the expo’s theme, 'Designing Future Society for Our Lives.' Indeed, without harmony, it is hard to imagine how nations – with their diverse needs and wants – can come together to speed up our efforts for a sustainable future society," added Tengku Zafrul.
