Interested parties are being asked for their views on the implementation of the EU's Artificial Intelligence Act which was formally adopted on 21 May.
AI tools deemed to be a danger to humanity will be banned while high-risk AI providers must conduct risk assessments and ensure their products comply with the law before they are made available to the public. The rules also ban real-time facial recognition in public spaces but with some exceptions for law enforcement, although police must seek approval from a judicial authority before any AI deployment.
The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment is leading Ireland's implementation of the AI Act and is seeking submissions from interested parties to guide it in this work.
