The anonymous person shared an image of their trousers on Reddit, sparking a huge debate among the internet. So have you ever wondered why there's a loop on your denim trousers?

Many of us hastily put on our clothes without much consideration. However, one individual has ignited a massive online debate after noticing the small strip of fabric at the back of their trousers.

Numerous comments flooded the post, with other users equally puzzled. One person bluntly commented: " swag," while another quipped: "It's to literally catch on every edge you didn't realise was there. Nail sticking out 0.2mm yeah, it'll find it."Another similarly remarked: "They work great for ripping off cabinet doors when you accidentally walk close enough for the loop to catch one of the handles.

According to the trouser manufacturer, these loops are the distinguishing feature between cargo and carpenter pants, with the latter requiring pockets and practical extras for those wearing them who actually work in carpentry or construction. "Known as a hammer loop, it's used to store and carry a hammer. Carpenters and other workers can slide a hammer through the top of the hammer loop, at which point the handle will fall into the underlying vertical pocket."
