Of the 237 adult mummies that were scanned from 1999 through 2022 as part of the Global HORUS Study, 91 were females, 139 were males, and seven were of undetermined sex. Atherosclerosis is when cholesterol plaques build up in one’s arteries. These plaques can eventually obstruct the flow of blood to vital body parts such as heart muscle and the brain leaving to heart attacks and strokes.
