Each year about half a million people in America require open heart surgery. In Jonesboro one hospital held a reunion for those who they’ve helped save. “I have never met anybody in the whole crew here that didn’t treat me, I don’t know, special or whatever you want to call it," said Randall Glenn, a heart pump recipient.
St. Bernards has some of the best heart health technology and at today’s special luncheon they were able to recognize those patients who have received it. The Impella 5.5 heart pump is minimally invasive and serves as long-lasting support for the heart. During the luncheon patients and families were reunited to those who took care of them. “Everybody was so accommodating and always so friendly, we even nominated one of our nurses for the Daisy Award that they had, but they were just so friendly," said Regina Farmer.
Jerry Farmer was a recipient of one of the heart pumps. He and his wife could not stop raving about the quality of care they had and the joy they had in seeing their medical staff again. “Thank you," he said.Regina Farmer said that having the newest heart technology put her at ease. “I really appreciate the fact that they invest in technology because I’ve been to places that have old equipment and I think it’s so important to have the latest and greatest.
