American multinational technology company Google said on Tuesday it would launch its news initiative innovation challenge in Turkey, Africa, and the Middle East in June.
A panel will evaluate submissions from traditional publishers, news startups, and associations that aim to build innovative digital media projects, and fund selected projects up to $150,000. “With economic models changing and new ways in which people are consuming news, innovation in the news industry has never been more important.”
