Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra successor could receive a major camera upgrade next year, according to a new report detailing two significant improvements., Samsung could be furnishing the Galaxy S25 Ultra with an enhanced quad rear camera setup combining a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle, a 50-megapixel 3x telephoto, a 50-megapixel 5x telephoto and a 200-megapixel wide camera.
If the report turns out to be true, this configuration would represent a sizable improvement over the current S24 Ultra, which uses a 12-megapixel sensor for the ultra-wide camera and a 10-megapixel sensor for the 3x telephoto lens. Switching the ultra-wide sensor from 12 to 50 megapixels would constitute a huge leap and would open up the possibility of 8K video recording, which needs around 33 megapixels when using the ultra-wide camera. Close-up macro shots could also see major gains in detail as these are typically shot with the ultra-wide camera, which would potentially deliver far greater quality than the current 12-megapixel version.
I’d take this rumor with a pinch of salt until more concrete information becomes available. There’s a long way to go before the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s expected release date early next year, and many more rumors are sure to pop up between now and then. There’s also no information so far on the physical size of the camera sensors, which can be just as important as the resolution in megapixels, if not more so.Our community is about connecting people through open and thoughtful conversations.
