Already a subscriber?Client data may be at risk after financial services software company Iress revealed hackers had stolen a password from a third-party platform that gave them access to the company’s OneVue wealth management hub.
However, further investigations revealed that the hackers had stolen a credential from GitHub, and that was used to gain access to OneVue, the company said on Wednesday. The breach is limited to the production environment for OneVue, which consists of three parts: superannuation, managed funds administration, and the platform business – which Iress acquired for $115 million in late 2020.
“If a threat actor gains access to a production environment, they can manipulate code to affect the availability or integrity of systems and data, or they can inject malicious code into new updates to steal data without the users being aware,” Mr Sedgwick said. “Investigations have substantially progressed across Iress’ other business lines and at this time we have found no evidence that the remainder of Iress’ production environment, software or client data has otherwise been compromised,” the company said.In a statement to the ASX, Praemium said it “has no indication from Iress that OneVue client data has been compromised”.
