If you imagine a powered mop, you’re probably thinking of one of those hard-floor cleaners which sprays out water and sucks it back in again. Dyson has just released the Dyson Wash G1 to clean hard floors, and there’s no suction involved. And it’s designed so that you don’t need to vacuum the floor before you use it.That’s different from most of the other Dyson products: its vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, air purifiers and room fans all blow and suck air to have their effect. Not the Wash G1.
The dirt is extracted through two parts of the machine, a mangle which squeezes out the water and a brush bar that pulls the solid debris off the rollers and keeps it in the debris tray. I saw an extensive demonstration of the Wash G1 and can confirm that it’s lightweight and easy to maneuver, and is highly effective at dried-in coffee stains or scattered cereal, for instance.
