For your information, Google said this feature is based on a locally running Gemini Nano model that can identify and match language and conversation patterns related to scams during calls. If a suspected scam call is detected, the system will issue an alert to alert the user. In addition, Google provides some examples of typical scam scenarios, such as scammers posing as bank staff and asking for your passwords or bank card information, or asking for payment via gift cards, emergency transfers, etc. Gemini Nano can identify these fraud scenarios, thereby reminding you to be more vigilant and prevent risks.
In terms of security, Google emphasises that these protections are performed entirely on the device. So, conversations monitored by the Gemini Nano will remain private. Currently, the specific launch time of this fraud detection function has not been announced. Google said the feature is disabled by default and users need to manually enable it to take effect.
