The Apple M4 chip brings new features like Dynamic Caching, hardware-accelerated mesh shading, and, notably, hardware-accelerated ray tracing to the iPad Pro.

While the chip is likely destined for the next generation of MacBooks and iPads, Apple has started with the latest iPad Pro.

The company says the new chip is built using second-generation 3nm technology, a CPU configurable with up to 10 cores, and a 10-core GPU. Apple’s M4 SoC has a new display engine, which the company says enables stunning precision, colour accuracy, and brightness in the iPad Pro with its Ultra Retina XDR display.
