Wi-Fi 7, the latest iteration of the Wi-Fi standard, is set to gain momentum in 2024. Once again, it begs the question—how does it stack up to its wireless counterpart 5G?

In addition to speed and efficiency enhancements, Wi-Fi 7 improves security and reliability with enhanced encryption protocols. However, when compared with 5G, it reaches onlydepending on speeds, which is enough for small homes. This drastically limits its prime use cases to local area networks and provides connectivity to a small cluster of devices.

Beyond higher throughput than prior wireless generations, 5G introduces ultra-low latency, reducing communication delays to milliseconds. This low latency is critical for real-time applications such as telemedicine and industrial automation, where split-second responsiveness is essential.
