Five years after going missing, Cecilia Huerta Gallegos is telling her story. Her head shifts slightly, and Gallegos occasionally blinks as she appears to speak in a video produced by the nonprofit Search and Support San Antonio. The organization is using artificial intelligence in hopes of finding Gallegos. In the video, she appears to talk about her disappearance, pleading for the public to share her story.

Nina Brooks, founder and president of Search and Support San Antonio, said the idea of using AI technology to find missing people came after seeing a similar video of Madeleine McCann, a 3-year-old girl from England who disappeared from her bed in Portugal in 2007.

San Antoniowoman’ss disappearance is a mystery Reyes Gallegos is currently free after posting bond. He was previously convicted for filing a false police report regarding his wife’s disappearance. An affidavit for that case states home security footage captured her going inside the bedroom shared by the couple. There is no footage of her coming out. Police said the camera was turned off around 2 a.m. for two hours before being resumed.
