Meta has responded to criticism from the company's independent Oversight Board, and says it plans to tighten up its policies over AI generated content.
"Our manipulated media policy was written in 2020 when realistic AI-generated content was rare and the overarching concern was about videos," explained Monika Bickert, the company's vice president of content policy in a "For example, we will remove content, regardless of whether it is created by AI or a person, if it violates our policies against voter interference, bullying and harassment, violence and incitement, or any other policy in our Community Standards," said Bickert.
According to the Board, Meta was right to leave up the content, but was advised to label such content as manipulated in future.
