Elite columnists jumped on the masses for Princess Kate speculation before her cancer announcement. But blame the palace for its lies.

Let’s be clear: This is a completely bass-ackwards interpretation of what’s played out over the last few weeks. The apparent truth-telling of Kate’s Friday night news dump didn’t happen because people are stupid. It happened because people are smart.

Why should the public feel very, very stupid when it wasn’t the public but Kensington Palace that earlier this month released the now notorious British Mother’s Day photo of Kate and her children, allegedly snapped by Prince William himself, that was spiked by the world’s major news organizations after it became obvious that, perhaps substantially? Was it “the internet” that then decided to throw Kate under the bus by blaming the fiasco on herShould we actually be feeling terrible about...
