Now it looks like Google is moving in the same direction, with its latest Google Phone beta showing WhatsApp calls in the recent caller list—just “like an iPhone.” There are hundreds of millions of voice and video calls on WhatsApp every day—meaning billions of fully encrypted minutes. It’s about time that these calls in particular were given the same billing as their normal cellular equivalents, given they have become the norm for so many.
