Coreod Space's SAT VR helmet will use AI to function like an "additional crew member", CEO Élise Jabès told IE in an interview.

The first humans to go to Mars will be the most isolated humans in history, as small crews will fly to the Red Planet to establish the groundwork of these Martian colonies., Coreod Space CEO and co-founder Élise Jabès explained how the SAT VR helmet will provide continuous support during arduous space missions and function "as if it were an additional crew member.

"My journey towards space mindfulness began with my three-year tenure at the United Nations," Jabès explained. "I worked as a psychologist with blue helmets in challenging environments, such as refugee camps in Beirut in 2009. This experience gave me profound insights into the psychological impacts of isolated, confined, and extreme conditions."

Jabès is also head of the Space Neuropsychology Lab , affiliated with Coreod Space. In fact, for its SAT software, the company has drawn from 10 years of neuropsychological studies carried out at LIRNAS. "SAT, our AI-powered psychological assistant, is designed to provide continuous support to astronauts, functioning almost as if it were an additional crew member accompanying them throughout their journey," Jabès explained.

Jabès also pointed out that "this combination of a relatable avatar and immersive environments ensures that our solution is not just technologically advanced but also deeply attuned to the psychological needs of its users."Last year, the role of AI in the workplace came into sharp focus when ChatGPT took the world by storm.
