Boeing Co plans to offer as standard a safety feature that might have warned ear...

Boeing did not immediately comment on the plan to make the safety feature standard.

The product and training updates were being made “to further improve the safety that ensures that this will not happen again,” Tinseth said. Meanwhile, in Jakarta, Indonesian investigators described the panic of pilots grappling with airspeed and altitude problems in the last moments of the Lion Air flight.

Reuters reported Wednesday the Lion Air pilots scrambled through a handbook to understand why the jet was lurching downwards in the final minutes before it hit the water.Boeing has said there was a documented procedure to handle the automated system at the heart of the problem.

'Boeing will mandate a previously optional cockpit warning light as part of a software update to the 737 MAX fleet' So, will this be a hardware or a software update? Put otherwise: Did they tier the safety of the installed software just for the sake of a creating a revenue model?

BoeingAirplanes Boeing This is a perfect example of ‘A Penny Wise, A Pound Foolish’. All this negative publicity tarnished your good name and the great products you produce. To add insult to injury, you try to buy the silence of victims families, shameful! 737MAX SafetyFirst

Sometimes I don't get these people boeing. Safety features should not be offered or optional, it's compulsory & standard. No value for life at all

what? Parachutes and valium to passengers?

Optional safety features? This is murder!!!

How magnanimous. After the death of about 300 unsuspecting travelers.

Shouldn’t safety features be standard 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Hold on. There are OPTIONAL safety features! I thought every possible safety feature was already standard on every aircraft.

Safety feature as standard? Was it previously an “optional extra” FFS?

Bit like closing the stable door long after the horse has bolted..... Boeing gambled with people's lives by not making it a standard feature - and lost - big time! They should be sued out of existence.

How nice of them. (sarcasm)

When was aeroplane safety ever thought of as a luxury? Surely it's essential.

I don't get why important safety features wouldn't have been standard to begin with?
