I have been recognized as one of the leading industry consultants, analysts and futurists, covering the field of personal computers and consumer technology.

When Apple introduced the Vision Pro headset in June 2023, those who got to test it, including me, raved about its capabilities and features. However, almost all of us also questioned its $3,500 price tag, which immediately shifted it from a consumer product to something that enterprises and business users could need and afford at first.

The original business plan revealed some history about IBM's vision and forecasts for its new personal computer. The plan projected that IBM would sell approximately 220,000 units in the computer's first three years on the market. The list price at its introduction started at U.S. $1,565 . However, The bottom of the pyramid is the largest audience, and we projected it would not kick in until the late 1980s and early 1990s. We called this layer the consumer audience. And indeed, that is what happened. By early 1990, Apple introduced CD ROMs, multimedia computing, and PC gaming took off. We also began to see a lot more educational material become available, and the prices of PC clones became much more affordable for consumers.

These types of apps will spur the demand of early adopters who can afford these headsets and will clamor for a chance to be one of the first in their"clique" to own a Vision Pro headset.
