A player on the Nottingham Panthers had his throat slashed by the skate of an opponent during an Elite Ice Hockey League match in the UK. Graphic footage of the incident has been circulating on the internet.

Johnson, a player on the Nottingham Panthers, had his throat slashed by the skate of Matt Petgrave of the Sheffield Steelers in traumatic scenes that unfolded in front of a crowd of around 8000 at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena.

Video also shows Johnson attempted to skate back to his team’s bench, but officials and teammates stopped him and called for help.According to police, officers were called at 8.25pm after reports that a player had been seriously injured during the game. “We would encourage the public to avoid speculation regarding the incident while we continue our enquiries.”A leading legal expert has now told“From what I have read on the news, it seems very unlikely the CPS would prosecute,” Nicola Lacey, professor of law, gender and social policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science , told Newsweek
