A ministerial aide at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology has been asked to leave his post for criticizing Israel's siege and airstrikes campaign in Gaza. The aide wrote a letter to the Prime Minister expressing concern over the humanitarian crisis faced by Palestinian civilians.

The ministerial aide at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology wrote to the Prime Minister saying it would save lives. He said that Palestinian civilians are facing a "collective punishment" as a result of Israel's siege and airstrikes campaign in the wake of Hamas's bloodshed. Downing Street said that the MP for Peterborough has been asked to leave his job as a parliamentary private secretary for breaking rank.
