Industrial action planned by the Information Communication and Technology Union against Tiso Blackstar for Thursday has been called off.
In a statement issued by Tiso Blackstar's group MD for media, Andy Gill, the company said on Wednesday that the union had agreed to suspend the industrial action following discussions with management. "The suspension will allow time for parties to engage meaningfully forthwith on the key issues, such as the freezing of salary increases and bonuses, with a view to finding resolution by April 10," said the company.
Tiso Blackstar has also agreed to"allow basic organisational rights to the union - being payroll deduction of union dues, the appointment of representatives, reasonable access to the workplace and the right to leave for trade union activities for trade union officials - in line with the provisions of the Labour Relations Act".
"As the company, our objective is to ensure that the business is sustainable. It is our responsibility to staff, shareholders and our broader stakeholder base to secure the long term future of the titles and brands we produce," added the statement.
