CLEVELAND, Ohio — There’s a government program that knocks $30 off your internet bill every month, and 1-in-4 families in Cuyahoga County may qualify., an FCC benefit program that launched in 2021 to help households get connected to broadband internet. One million Ohioans have already signed up, but many others who could qualify haven’t, said Alejandro Roark, chief of the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau for the FCC.

You may have seen flyers or commercials from local internet companies that mention the Affordable Connectivity Program, but if you’re like me, you may not have known what it was or how to qualify.The Affordable Connectivity Program gives people who sign up $30 off their internet bill, which in many cases can make it free, sinceAny household at 200% of the poverty level or lower qualifies. That’s any individual making $29,000 or less, or any family of four making $60,000 or less.
