Israel ordered Chevron Corp. CVX, +3.

16% to shut down an offshore natural gas platform in the eastern Mediterranean Sea as a safety precaution in its conflict with Hamas, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. The platform is one of two Chevron operates in Israel’s Tamar and Leviathan gas fields. Chevron shares rose 3.1% Monday, leading the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.62% higher.
