CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The owner of Home Hardware on St. Peters Road in Charlottetown says he’s uncertain about when the store will reopen after a fire broke out at the business on the evening of Oct. 3.The fire started in the storage room but was contained, Duane MacDonald told SaltWire in an interview on Oct. 6.

Duane MacDonald, the owner of Home Hardware, says he's still uncertain about when the store will reopen after the fire incident on Oct. 3. However, staff will continue to receive their full paychecks.MacDonald said he is not sure how much was lost in the fire, but the store is fully insured and all costs will be covered. He hasn’t gotten the chance to look at the damage yet except from reports he gets from the fire department.
