Meta Platforms announced a new mixed-reality headset at its Meta Connect event. The company unveil a variety of new AI experiences.

Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday unveiled the Quest 3 virtual reality headset. The device will start shipping Oct. 10 at a previously announced price of $499.

The launch comes just months ahead of the expected launch of Apple ‘s first hardware entrant into the VR segment, the Vision Pro., which is scheduled to ship early in 2024. Zuckerberg made the announcements at a keynote address for Meta Connect, a two-day developer event held for the first time on the company’s Menlo Park, Calif. campus. This is the first time the company has held the event—once known as Facebook Connect—in person since 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
