OpenAI looking at new valuation of up to $90B: ReportOpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is looking at a new valuation of up to $90 billion, tripling its prior valuation, according to the Wall Street Journal. Threadneedle Strategies Founder Ann Berry joins Yahoo Finance Live to discuss the new valuation and what is “different” about investments in AI. OpenAI's new valuation “is assuming an enormous amount of value creation in a really short period of time,” Berry notes. Berry says that she is not shocked, but “does the air feel a little bit thin at this valuation after so short a time? Yeah, maybe.” What’s “interesting and different about investments into AI specifically,” Berry explains, is “we're not hearing the names of the big traditional private market players like the big venture capital firms. We’re hearing about the balance sheets of public companies.” There “is a level of competition with the private markets for AI that we haven’t seen in quite a long time,” Berry says.
