The biggest beneficiaries of generative artificial intelligence may not be in the sector at all, but those that can leverage it to improve operations.

After a month of listening to companies espouse the virtues of artificial intelligence, analysts have warned investors not to be seduced by the hype and that its biggest benefits could be realised outside the tech sector.

Barrenjoey’s co-head of technology Josh Kannourakis warns investors not to get too excited about generative AI. “Topics like AI and specifically generative AI are definitely of mind for investors coming out of this earnings season, but it’s important to remember there are few ways to play this domestically and investors need to think broadly about its potential,” Mr Kannourakis said.
