The Municipality of the County of Kings is asking citizens to be vigilant if they receive an email or phone call requesting payment, or personal information, on behalf of the municipality. If such a request is received, contact the municipality directly to verify that the request is legitimate. The municipality has learned that sensitive personal information of county employees and councillors was likely stolen. Barr said this sensitive information relates to that which is typically associated with T4s or pension-related information. Only some of the employees for these organizations have been impacted, and all organizations and individuals that are impacted have been notified.

If such a request is received, citizens are being asked to contact the municipality directly to verify the request is legitimate.
