The bill, dubbed the FARE Act, was introduced back in June by Brooklyn Councilman Chi Ossé who received backing from 25 Democratic colleagues to co-sponsor it. The proposal got some obvious pushback from real estate groups, though, who argue the action would be bad for both brokers and landlords, but Ossé says the current system "makes no sense."
