Nzimande’s spokesperson Ishmael Mnisi said the minister would make his decision on the recommendations after consultations.CUT spokesperson Daniel Maritz said the report was with the university council to respond to its findings within a month. According to the report, a whistleblower alleged in a report to senior management that there were employees who had been telephoning students and asking for their “share” of the student allowance.
One of the investigations, the report stated, focused on the ongoing student unrest and the other on fees and financial aid. Based on the interviews conducted with the relevant staff members, the report stated that employees allegedly sent an “invitation” to students who were experiencing problems accessing their National Student Financial Aid Scheme funds to send their details to a particular email address.
