Researchers say Amazon face-detection technology shows bias

Not sure why facial recognition needs to determine gender anyway. It is the unique facial characteristics that it is supposed to detect to validate identity, not gender.

Most likely just a result of the current limitations of the technology for whatever reason. I have no doubt the perpetually offended will consider this some sort of racial / gender oppression though.
