Because algorithms don't make decisions on their own. They cannot be held to account any more than a gun can be held to account in a murder case.

This invisible algorithm, is like a snakes coil of death. It will suffocate society progression.

“What power have you got? “Where did you get it from? “In whose interests do you use it? “To whom are you accountable? “How do we get rid of you?”

Held to account? Really? Unless it's Murdoch, I guess. Any comment on the completely discredited Times "Muslim Fostering" article? And your spiking of a comment piece on it by Miqdaad Versi? Amazing to think that this is the paper that exposed phone hacking. How times change...

I agree, but China focuses on innovation and this will lead to them leading artificialintelligence soon. Europe will be behind planning and thinking about it 😬

Think of people or organisations as Controllers and algorithms as Processors. Who would you hold accountable? GDPR has done a good job at defining accountability

tom toms are inaccurate all over the uk because the firm who sold them didnt put in the infrastructure to keep them updated fast enough ... why they have been put in the uk driving test is beyond me - decision makers not understanding tech before buying into it?

I recently translated a medical app as part of the Italian diabetes plan - it is clearly designed to 'encourage' teens, and prevent drop out and amputations in later life, and doesn't make any promises of a predictive nature -the problem with apps is the grandiose pretence

I agree this is the excuse they use for testing serenawilliams incessantly - they use an algorithm. Algorithms are only as good as the computer scientist behind them.

And who gets to decided the regulations ? Article 11,13 from the EU is already attacking the freedoms of the net aimed at the right, add to that the massive leftwing bias of tech giants throw in a few left wing Politian's in the UK. Censor the right is the game.

..cos having spent a decade de-regulating everything, we don't even hold people to account anymore Hannah -

Mum shares amazing cooking method so you can wake up with a readymade fry-upA mum's somewhat controversial way of cooking a full English breakfast has taken the internet by storm Nothing there. Just an advertisement. 9hrs? To slow cook a kids breakfast? Hmm think this is more a gimmick than a life hack. I’d swing by McD’s in the morning, they do a lovely breakfast wrap & it only takes a few minutes!! 😋 My daughter does this as well, much healthier way to have a cooked breakfast. 🤩
